OCULUS Corvis® ST – Biomechanics for the daily practice

By combining tomographic data from the Pentacam® with biomechanical data from the Corvis® ST, ophthalmologists are able to further improve sensitivity and specificity in the detection of patients with a significant risk for developing ectasia after refractive surgery.

The OCULUS Corvis® ST combines tonometry and pachymetry with the biomechanical response of the cornea in a new and exciting way. It is the first instrument enabling ophthalmologists to perform fast and comprehensive screenings for biomechanically weak corneas. Furthermore, the integration of Pentacam® data allows combining biomechanical and tomographic data for a more efficient and safer screening prior to refractive surgery.

As the Corvis® ST measures both biomechanical response and corneal thickness with high precision, it is able to correct for both factors at the same time and return a biomechanically corrected IOP, the bIOP.

Furthermore, the new Corvis® ST software allows for comprehensive biomechanical screening and keratoconus detection. The Corvis Biomechanical Index (CBI) enables ophthalmologists to perform keratoconus screenings based on the biomechanical response of the cornea. It is the first available screening software that combines biomechanical information with pachymetric progression data.

By combining tomographic data from the Pentacam® with biomechanical data from the Corvis® ST, ophthalmologists are able to further improve sensitivity and specificity in the detection of patients with a significant risk for developing ectasia after refractive surgery. Based on these data a Tomographic Biomechanical Index (TBI) is created. This index together with the comprehensive display helps surgeons to avoid risks and help more patients safely.

OCULUS invites ophthalmologists to attend the Lunch Symposium at ESCRS Copenhagen on Saturday, 10th September 2016, 13 – 14 h at the Bella Center in Copenhagen and visit booth C200 in the exhibition area.
